Grad students stole the show at Professor Elina Gertsman’s induction as a Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America. Right after the breathtaking laudatio and at the solemn moment of inscription of her name in the Book of the Fellows, Prof. Gertsman turned around to see them in the audience, brandishing a glorious poster and an empty frame, to loud applause and raucous laughter. Thank you, Reed, Sam, Angie, and Marina for making this ceremony doubly unforgettable!
Congratulations to PhD students Bing Wang and Lauryn Smith, who presented their research at the 110th CAA Annual Conference! Bing presented “From The China Magazine to The Far East: An Early Evolution of Photographs Independent from Texts in East Asian Periodicals,” while Lauryn “Beyond ‘Exceptional’ Women: Unearthing Women’s Agency in the 17th Century Dutch Art Market with Network Analysis.”
