Christopher Bedford, who received an MA in Art History from CWRU in 2003, was named the tenth director of the Baltimore Museum of Art; he will begin his term in August. Currently Director of the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University in Massachusetts, he previously served as chief curator at the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University, and as an assistant curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.. Earlier Bedford was chosen by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to serve as the curator of the US Pavilion for the 2017 Venice Biennale. He will work with the painter Mark Bradford and with Katy Siegel, curator at large of the Rose Art Gallery, on an installation of new work by Bradford for the Biennale.
