Art History Graduate Students Present at AIA

Earlier this month, students in the Joint Program past and present made an impressive showing at the Archaeological Institute of America Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

PhD candidates Clara Pinchbeck and Arielle Suskin presented their poster on a coin from the recently published Kelvin Smith Library Special Collections Ancient Coin Collection, “Fleeting Reign, Enduring Fabric: An Antoninianus of Tacitus with Textile Remains.”

Madeline Newquist, PhD candidate, presented her paper, “From Conquered to Conquerors: The Triumphant Rider on Military Funerary Stelae in Roman Britain,” to a great response in the panel From the Roman Frontier.

And Sara Miller, MA 2025, presented research from her Qualifying Paper, “Banquet of the Dead: Etruscanizing the Tomba dello Sgabello Attic Vases,” in a panel on Recontextualizing Early Italian art.

Our presenters were supported by first-year MA, Alyssa Parrnelli, and Curatorial Assistant at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Kerry Gnandt. Congratulations to all on a successful Conference!
