Professors Erin Benay and Maggie Popkin nominated for prestigious undergraduate teaching and mentoring awards

The art history faculty at CWRU is deeply committed to undergraduate education, and this commitment has earned recognition for two departmental faculty members. Erin Benay, Climo Assistant Professor, has been nominated for the 2019 Carl F. Wittke Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, which honors faculty who have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. This is Professor Benay’s second nomination for the Wittke Award! Maggie Popkin, Robson Junior Professor and Associate Professor, has been nominated for the 2019 J. Bruce Jackson, M.D., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring. This award celebrates faculty and staff who have guided a student toward the discovery of academic and career paths; fostered the student’s long-term personal development; challenged students to reflect, explore, and grow as an individual; and supported and/or facilitated the student’s goals and life choices.
