Doctoral students Alex Kaczenski and Sam Truman recently visited Europe on a research trip for their dissertations. Alex documented paintings and sculptures of St. Agatha in France, Germany, and Italy, while Sam examined images of ghosts in manuscripts in France and England. Their research was supported, in part, by a grant from the French-American Cultural Exchange won by Prof. Elina Gertsman and Prof. Vincent Debiais (EHESS). As part of their trip, Alex and Sam spent time in Paris with Dr. Debiais discussing, among other things, possibilities for future collaborative projects between French and American graduate students.
