Erin Benay, Assistant Professor of Italian Renaissance and Baroque Art, received a 2017-18 fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies to support research and travel for her third book project, tentatively titled Italy by Way of India: Routes of Devotional Knowledge in the Early Modern Period. The project will explore the ways in which mercantile and missionary travel between Italy and southern India complicated the production and collection of art in both locations. Prof. Benay will give a talk on this subject in the Baker Nord Center for the Humanities Work-in-Progress series on October 18th at 4:30pm.
