The Pilkington Flask

Maggie Popkin, the Robson Junior Professor and Associate Professor of Art History, has been at work this past year researching ancient Roman souvenirs and memorabilia, a project supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship. Aspects of Professor Popkin’s research on Roman travel souvenirs have just been published as an article, “Urban Images in Glass from the Late Roman Empire: The Souvenir Flasks of Puteoli and Baiae,” in the American Journal of Archaeology, one of the world’s oldest and most distinguished journals of classical archaeology.
