Art History Faculty Receive Recognition from the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities for 2016-17

Two assistant professors in art history, Erin Benay, a specialist in early modern Italian art, and Maggie Popkin, a specialist in ancient Roman art, received awards from the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities at CWRU.  Professor Benay was chosen to be a Baker-Nord Center Faculty Affiliate for the fall 2016 semester.  As a Faculty Affiliate, she will deliver a public presentation on her work-in-progress during the fall upcoming semester and attend presentations by other Faculty and Graduate Affiliates.

Professor Popkin received a Humanities Faculty Fellowship for Spring semester 2017.  This fellowship will release her from teaching and service responsibilities for one semester to allow her time to work on her second book project, Souvenirs, Memorabilia, and the Construction of Knowledge in the Roman Empire.  This fellowship was offered her based on the quality of her proposal, which drew the endorsement of an external panel of distinguished reviewers.
